A little bit about me...

Hi, I'm Nikki, sometimes known as Nix!
 
I am a skilled Project Manager, Marketing, Operations, Finance and Administrative Professional with over 40 Years' Experience.  I have business experience across a broad range of sectors, including at directorship level.

Where to begin... I started earning a living at the tender age of 16 in modelling and promotional work. Not a career that would lead you to believe I can assist you with running a small business! However it afforded me many life experiences and a broad knowledge of the fashion and hospitality sector, as well as the purchase of my first home before I turned 21.

 

Moving forward, a temporary position introduced me to office work leading to a full-time role and my introduction to Accounting, Admin, Process, Property Management and Interior Design. Along the way the trials of life led me into the offices of Financial Advisors and Insurance Sales until I joined a family engineering company specialising in Heavy Fabrication, Marine and Effluent Treatment. A big step in my career, implementing and maintaining complete administrative and financial systems allowing the MD to focus purely on sales, resulting in a significant increase in turnover. I then stepped up to run this business until a change in personal circumstances led me into some time to travel and then a role as Bursar for a state run Primary School, borne from volunteering in their school library to keep myself out of mischief!

 

Then I took on the challenge of helping to set up and, ultimately, run a Construction Company, Project Managing high-end development sites. Perhaps, workload and stress levels forgiven, my dream job, which sadly came to an end due to personnel challenges and economic pressures.  And then I travelled...

Returning to the UK pre Covid 19, I set up Projects by Nix in 2020, enjoying the creative side of Marketing rather than Finance, and provided branding, marketing and social media management for a Pub & Restaurant, Butchery & Farm Shop, Fashion Boutique, Poultry Farmer, Furniture Designer, Property Developer and a Carpentry firm amongst others. I designed and built websites, wrote editorials and provided numerous marketing material; enjoying the more creative side rather than the numbers! I was also heavily involved in new Dorset Food & Drink Awards too, from both an administrative and marketing perspective for their inaugural awards in 2020, setting them up for the future. So a pretty broad experience across numerous sectors!

The end of Covid found me wanting to once again be part of a team and to perhaps give something back.  I spent nearly three years as part of the management team at a residential re-habilitation facility, specialising in addiction.  Part of my role was managing the Reception Team, offering cover as required.  Needless to say, many new skills and much personal and professional learning was achieved in this time!

​

And now. due to a change in my personal life, it's time to go back to my creative side and Projects by Nix has been re-born!  If you have any questions on my working experience, I am more than happy to answer them.

 

My passions lie in construction and interior design, photography, writing, a serious foodie and keen shopper of fashion! A city girl turned country bumpkin, animal and music lover and known to enjoy the odd (and now very occasional) glass of a fine, white Burgundy...
